Beta Kappa Chapter at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga

Kappa Delta

Letter to Parents

Welcome to the Beta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Delta! As President, it is my privilege to welcome you to my sorority, Kappa Delta, and to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Kappa Delta is more than an organization -  it is a way of life. Kappa Delta will affect your daughter’s life by challenging her to be the best version of herself not only for four years, but for life. Kappa Delta will give your daughter a connection to this university, but also all over the world. Kappa Delta is a building block to finding the confidence to be the best person you can be.

Founded in 1897, our founders envisioned a dream of true friendship among collegiate women, shared today by 163 collegiate chapters and more than 500 alumnae chapters across the United States. Kappa Delta is not just for four years, but for life! Whether it be through academics, social engagement, philanthropy, leadership, or time spent with our sisters, we seek to live up to our open motto, “Let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest.” Kappa Delta promotes confidence in collegiate women by encouraging our members to be the best version of themselves! Each of my sisters are exceptional. We range from biology to education majors and are artistic, athletic, musical, and everything in-between. Kappa Delta offers opportunities for all personalities and sees individuality as beauty.

Kappa Delta encourages leadership skills among college women in a supportive, caring environment of friendship. While we see many sisters choose to rise in leadership roles within our house, every member in our chapter is also an actively involved member in an organization outside of the sorority. Beyond leadership skills, KD also reminds members how important it is to give back to the community. The Confidence Coalition is an initiative that supports the sorority’s commitment to inspiring women and girls to reach their full potential. At UTC we organize several confidence building activities throughout the year to raise awareness. We host two annual fundraisers in support of our local philanthropy, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hamilton County, and our national philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America. This past school year we raised $19,649! In addition to our work with CACHC and PCAA, we believe in instilling our values of confidence and leadership into young girls by partnering with Girl Scouts of the USA. Each school year we hold several fun and educational events for the Girl Scouts, such as our Halloween Trunk-or-Treat event with our Panhellenic sisters and an educational puppet show about healthy living with Kids on the Block! In addition to our time raising money and mentoring the Girl Scouts, we volunteer extensively throughout the community with causes near to our hearts.

Membership in Kappa Delta Sorority will not only enhance your college experience, but also the rest of your life! Our members are expected to excel academically and are encouraged to participate in experiences that will expand their knowledge of the world. I am confident that everything your daughter puts into it she will receive back! When I joined Kappa Delta I had no idea how much of an impact this sorority would have on my life. My sisters and the experiences I have gained as a member of Kappa Delta have shaped me into the woman I am today. With Kappa Delta I have found my best friends, my roommates, my support system, and my home away from home. It is my most sincere hope that your daughter will find her home away from home as I found mine in Kappa Delta.

Should you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
